The latest issue of AeroModeller is out now with a full-size Free Plan for an EDF SAAB J29 Jet, plenty of Scale FF and CL coverage, a visit to the Enya engine Factory, How Tos on Rubber Motors and IC Prop Design and much more. Below is extra content we didn’t have space for.

Page 6 of AeroModeller has information on Richard Dalby’s 4 cylinder 40cc Spark Ignition AMCO engine. You can read Peter Chinn’s original description of the engine from July 1951’s Model Aircraft in the following file.

2014 FREE FLIGHT FORUM – Call for Papers

November 23rd 2014 sees the thirty-first BMFA Free Flight Forum, or at least that is the intention. However, without your help with offers of papers to present and topics to cover it just won’t happen.  We always aim to cover a wide range of free flight with the papers presented at the Forum and published later as the Forum Report. Topics can range from how-to-do-it items, theoretical pieces, building and flying techniques or what we do and how we do it in free-flight.

Please contact Martin Dilly phone 020 8777 5533, or Mike Evatt phone 01327-842746 before Oct. 1st with your offers; better still, do it now, while you think of it. The continuing success of the Free Flight Forum depends on you.

19th October BMFA Scale Indoor RC Nats (and unofficial FF Scale)

The event will be held at RAF Shawbury* on Sunday 19th October 2014. The two official events will be RC Scale and RC Scale flying only. RC Scale is a competition for scratchbuilt models for the newly presented RC Model Flyer Scale Trophy. Judging will be for both static and flying points and the builder of the model rule will apply. On the other hand any indoor legal scale RC model is eligible for flying only, especially RTFs.

For definitive information, please refer to the 2014 BMFA Scale Rule Book which is on the BMFA website ( and the BMFA Scale Judges Guide on the BMFA Scale Technical Committee website: The official events are pre-entry only by Friday 10th October 2014, please.

Unofficial competitions will be held for Peanut (for the Modellers Den Trophy), Open FF Scale, FF Glider and No-Cal scale (the latter is to BMFA FF Rules) all of which will be free entry to competitors and paid-up fun flyers.

Contact me for more details; an entry form is attached.

BMFA Scale Indoor RC Nats Helpers: We’ll need about 20 helpers for the above event, please let me know if you are willing and able to help out.
